How We Got Started

Elevated Press was founded in early 2008, by an artistic couple with a huge DIY spirit and the need for wedding invitations. Michelle Baker, an illustrator and art educator, and Peter Baker, a graphic designer and photographer, knew that they would be designing their own invitations, but it was their appreciation for the tactile quality of letterpress that compelled them to hand print the invitations on a press.

Elevated Press has since grown to become a full-service design and letterpress stationery studio, specializing in gorgeous custom wedding invitations and a charming line of greeting cards and prints. Our Gear

We currently use a Chandler & Price platen press, a Vandercook #3 proof press, and a table-top Kelsey press. All in great condition, all decades old.

Our workshop is located near both downtown Ann Arbor and the beautiful Huron River, 30 minutes from the wonderful city of Detroit.

Michelle Baker Founder, Designer, Master Printer With a degree in scientific illustration, a masters in art education, experience managing art galleries and teaching art to children and adults, Michelle has years of creative experience and is the driving force behind Elevated Press. Peter Baker Design Meister, Assistant-in-Chief Pete is an accomplished designer, programmer and photographer, and has been running his own design and web studio, Elevated Works, for over five years now, serving some of the largest companies in the country. His photography has been exhibited in galleries and magazines around the world, and can be seen at peterbaker.net. pete@elevatedworks.com
